Itinerary: Costa Rica STEM + Arts

Each day starts with Survival Spanish and Prep for STEM & Arts field work.

Day 1: Arrive in Costa Rica

Our day starts with travel and prep for our Costa Rica program.

- lunch at a local eatery and Spanish 101

- orientation and safety briefing

- cultural introduction and youth exchange

- follow the beat local dance & music

Day 2: Native Culture & Turtle Conservation

Culture and science blended to provide amazing adventures.

- Guatil Pottery town and cultural center

- the town of Santa Cruz & Lunch

- turtle nesting and protection

- math measures  - cooking class

Day 3: STEM Field Work - Genetics & Farming

Our hands on curriculum brings STEM to life and learning fun.

- genetics and engineering with Earth U.

- engineering methods with Ad Astra

- cultural exploration in the town of Liberia

Day 4: STEM Field Work - Renewable Energy

Costa Rica runs on 100% renewable energy and we investigate how!

- natures best energy through engineering with ICE

- volcano crater hike and natural spa with mud baths

- meet-up and pizza party with youth from the neighborhood

Day 5: STEM Field Work - Rain Forest Flora & Fauna 

Making a difference can mean a world of opportunities.  

 - Rainforest hike and discovery

- Coco farms and the Science of Chocolate

- Blog, journal and STEM findings report

Day 6:  Oceans Alive and Youth-to-Youth Community Engagement

Spend the day exploring the Pacific Ocean, and ways to protect our waterways.

- offshore excursion with marine biologist

- culture and conservation talks with local school or community center

Day 7:  Youth to Youth Exchange & Adventures

Youth to Youth exchange continues with a final day with new family and friends.

- Zip Lining at the Congo Trail

- Have lunch in Playas del Coco

- Dinner with a host family in the Barrio (neighborhood) of San Martin.

 

Day 8: Depart for home

Itinerary: Costa Rica Language & Culture

Each day includes 2-3 Hours of Spanish Lessons for Levels 1&2/3 & Conversation.  Practice and assessments made in advance during pre trip workshops.

Day 2: Spanish Classes & Cultures of Santa Cruz

- Spanish classes and immersion

-  visit the town of Santa Cruz & lunch

- Guitil pottery making

- cooking class

Day 3: Spanish Classes & Local Culture

Our hands on curriculum brings Language to life and learning fun.

- Spanish classes 

- cultural exploration in the town of Liberia

- nature and waterfalls

- local scene and movie night

Day 4: Spanish Classes & Nosara Community Project

After Spanish class, our next adventure is a visit to Nosara community service project and  Spanish practice.

- Spanish classes

- lunch at local eatery

- community service project

- pizza night & games

Day 5:  - Tenorio Volcano & Chocolate 

A day off to wonder, explore and practice Spanish! 

- Tenorio hike and waterfall

- Coco farms and chocolate making

- Blog, journal and Spanish talents

Day 6:  Youth-to-Youth Community Engagement

Spend the day exploring the Pacific Ocean, and ways to protect our waterways.

- beach clean-up with local youth

- culture share and conservation talks with local school or community center

Day 7:  Spanish Class and Youth to Youth Exchange & Adventures

Youth to Youth exchange continues with a final day with new family and friends.

Each day starts with community service and sustainable development goals briefing.

Day 1: Arrive in Costa Rica

The day starts with travel and prep for the Costa Rica program.

- lunch at a local eatery and Community Service assignments review

- orientation and safety briefing

- cultural introduction and youth exchange

- follow the beat local dance & music

Day 2: Community  Service & Cultures of Santa Cruz

Day two will begin a week long service project to make a difference in the community of Playas del  Coco.

- community service  - Playas del Coco

-  visit the town of Santa Cruz & lunch

-  Guitil pottery making and sand men

-  cooking class

Day 3: Community Service & Nature

We will continue the Playas del Coco project followed by exploration of nature and towns.

- community service  - Playas del Coco

- cultural exploration in the history and town of Liberia

- nature and waterfalls

- local scene and movie night

Day 4: Rincon de La Viaje

Everyone gets a day off to explore the rainforest of Costa Rica at Rincon de la Vieja

- hike and natural spa with mud baths

- lunch at ranch house

- canopy tree walk 

- dinner @ local eatery

Day 5:  - Community Service & Coco Farm  

Making a difference can mean a world of opportunities.  

-  community service project completion and ceremony

- Coco farm and Chocolate making

- Blog, and journal entries

Day 6:  Youth-to-Youth Community Engagement

Spend the day exploring the Pacific Ocean, and ways to protect our waterways.

- beach clean-up with local youth

- lunch and beach event with local youth

- culture share and conservation talks with local school or community center

Day 7:  Youth to Youth Exchange & Adventures

Youth to Youth exchange continues with a final day with new family and friends.
