STEM & Culture Trek offer participants immersive, hands-on experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math alongside local scientists, biologists, and engineers. The program also introduces the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, highlighting how STEM can drive solutions for a more sustainable world. Cultural engagement through the arts further enriches the learning journey, providing deeper insight and connection.

Day 1: Arrival in Costa Rica

Our day starts with travel and to Costa Rica, orientation dance lesson and star gazing.   

Day 2: STEM Field Work - Earth Sciences, Agriculture and Chocolate Making

Learning about flora and fauna in the rainforest, farming and chocolate making.

Day 3:  STEM Field Work - Rocket Science & History

STEM comes to life through technology.

Day 4:  STEM Field Work - Renewable Energy

Costa Rica runs on 100% renewable energy and we investigate how!

Day 5: Oceans Alive 

Spend the day exploring the Pacific Ocean, and ways to protect our waterways. 
meet-up with locals.

Day 6:  Community Service and Home Visit

Community service, local culture and family time.

Day 7:   Team Building & Culture

Discover Costa Rica's culture, zip lining in the rainforest and team building

Day 8: Farwell Costa Rica - Return to US

Final day in Costa Rica, US bound.

Kickstart your journey with an introduction to Liberia’s rich cultural heritage. Embrace Costa Rica’s vibrant spirit with a Latin dance class, and immerse yourself in the magic of the night sky, guided by an astronomy session after a sunset beach dinner.

Venture into Tenorio Volcano National Park, home to one of Costa Rica’s most breathtaking natural wonders, Río Celeste. Embark on a rainforest hike, farm to table lunch and the science of chocolate making.

Explore Ad Astra Rocket Company, a cutting-edge space technology lab founded by former NASA astronaut Franklin Chang Díaz. After a typical Costa Rican lunch, we will explore Liberia, Guanacaste’s historic capital, known for its colonial architecture, white-washed buildings, and vibrant cultural scene.

Travel to Miravalles Volcano, home to Costa Rica’s largest geothermal energy plant, where you'll gain insights into renewable energy and sustainability initiatives. Wrap the day up with typical meal and painting project.

Head to the coast for an interactive marine science session with Rocket Frog Divers, a leading organization dedicated to ocean conservation, marine biology, and responsible diving practices.  In addition, explore Coco Town (Playas del Coco), a lively coastal community known for its local culture, fishing heritage, and tourism-driven economy.

Give back to the local community through a hands-on service project, and Costa Rican family meet-up.

Embark on an exciting canopy tour, flying through the lush Costa Rican rainforest on zip lines and other team building events.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for departure.
